Laurie has touched the lives of hundreds of patients and families. Last year in our record freezing temperatures Laurie went to her patient's husband's car and cleaned off the ice and snow. He was elderly and would have had great difficulty doing so. Laurie always gives her patients more than 110% of her care. When I round, her patients rave about her caring and compassionate nature. She has cried with them, she has sat with patients as they have passed away and she has listened to countless family issues. She is a great listener. As a preceptor, Laurie has instructed at least three quarters of the staff on our unit. She mentors and advises when asked. She remains patient and understanding. She educates every one of her patients and families; sits patiently with them until the education is learned. Laurie's patients come first.
