I want to give huge praise to and appreciation for a nurse on the 2nd floor. We had a sick patient come to the floor one day at 6:00 pm - an awful time so close to change of shift. We realized very quickly that she was hypotensive. This nurse had the fluid bolus hanging within a minute. Within 15 minutes I was discussing a transfer to ICU. By 30 minutes, she was being transported to the PICU. This nurse was professional, quick-acting, calm, and smiling as usual but knew exactly what was needed and the direction the patient was headed. She responded quickly and calmly. I was extremely grateful to have a nurse of her experience and caliber working with me on a sick patient who was deteriorating quickly. And I hope to have her again on my next sick patient!! She is a great nurse.
