During her clinical shift, Lauryn recognized a patient whose hair had become severely matted, which could have likely resulted in the hair being cut, but Lauryn chose to dedicate thirty minutes to carefully brushing the patient's hair. This simple act of kindness was a display of compassion, by taking a routine task and transforming it into a moment of connection and comfort.
By prioritizing this patient-nurse interaction, Lauryn showed that nursing is much more than clinical care and one that emphasizes human dignity.
