The day my dad was diagnosed with Covid, pneumonia, and was admitted to the hospital my family and I were faced with so much fear of the unknown. He was placed in the ICU unit due to his need for a lot of oxygen. The way Lavar communicated with our family with updates on my father’s status, and his sense of care and compassion, is something we’ll never be able to forget.

He was my father’s nurse one day, he gave him the encouragement and support that he needed. Even when he wasn’t his nurse he would check on him daily, just to even say “hi” sometimes. He even gave us a call to check in on him after he got discharged. What Lavar showed was true nursing leadership and compassion. He was someone my family and  I needed during the hardest and scariest time of our lives. There are no amount of words to thank him.
