She let me know early on that she would be there for me, and she always calls me back and LISTENS to my fears and concerns with a warm heart. She has made a frightening experience less scary.
Being overwhelmed with the magnitude of a cancer diagnosis, you suddenly go from feeling like a person to a disease, from feeling healthy to not healthy. From day one, Laveda told me, “You are healthy,” and she helped me realize that I am still healthy. I just have to take care of this one thing. She made the insurmountable seem possible. Laveda is the only nurse who took the time to get to know me, to talk and listen to me, and to make me feel like a whole person. Over the phone, she took time to understand what other life stressors I had that were impacting my ability to schedule and organize the sheer flood of appointments and procedures that were in store for me. She has done her best to help me reschedule and organize appointments, always taking into account me. She let me know early on that she would be there for me, and she always calls me back and LISTENS to my fears and concerns with a warm heart. She has made a frightening experience less scary. While compassionate, she’s also firm in education, helping me to understand why certain things have to be done. Laveda has been my Nurse Navigator, and I thank her for everything she has done. I have been blessed to have her in my life!

Laveda coordinated my multi-appointment visit. She went above and beyond to ensure that all my medical records were there in time and that everything was coordinated like clockwork. She gave me hope that I could win my war against cancer. Her kindness and compassion, along with her passion for patient care, are life-changing for me.

Laveda always works hard to make sure the patient's experience is the best it can be. She is always asking how she can help us with scheduling patients and getting the patient the earliest possible appointment. She also will call a patient to answer any questions they have and to help ease their fears before they come to see the doctor. I have had multiple patients tell me how much they enjoyed talking to Laveda and how she answered all their questions and eased their fears. She also helps coordinate the Multi-D clinic by calling the patients and explaining what it entails to them. This helps the patient's experience because they can see all three doctors in one day instead of making multiple trips. I think Laveda is an extraordinary addition to the BMDA team as she is not only a team player but also cares about patients.
