Lavonne spoke to him in such a calming manner and held his hand at one point.
I would like to thank Lavonne Wolf for the compassionate care she provided for my brother-in-law, D. He was admitted to 4 East as a stage IV Metastatic Mandibular Cancer Patient. The tumor in his jaw had become larger, and there was metastasis to bone and other organs. He had suffered for many months and was in a very fragile physical state. LaVonne was his nurse on the day of his passing. He had been in a very agitated state that day, and she was frequently at the bedside. She spoke to him in such a calming manner and held his hand at one point.
Even though he was not able to speak, he would look at her, and we believe he understood. We left for an hour that afternoon, and he passed away while we were gone. When we returned, his sheets and blanket had been changed, his hair had been combed, and she had rolled up a couple of towels to lay against his face where the tumor had been protruding. He looked so peaceful, and seeing him this way also gave us a sense of peace. She went above and beyond in that short timeframe to make sure that was our last memory of him. Her kindness and compassion were greatly appreciated. We will be forever grateful.
