When I had surgery and the nurse couldn't hit my port, Lawana came and did it for me then came to check on me the next day.
In the middle of the pandemic, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 49. With a family who loves me, I was scared to death but God sent me an angel in the form of a nurse named Lawana. She was with me every step of the way. She went way over her duty to pet me. I have always had a phobia of needles and she came and held my hand through every stick and also through my procedures when my husband wasn't allowed. She checked on me daily and made sure I got meds to help with all my side effects. I got COVID-19 in the middle of my chemo and was in the hospital for a week. She called every day to make sure I didn't need anything. She was right there to cheer me on when I rang the bell on the last day of chemo.

When I had surgery and the nurse couldn't hit my port, Lawana came and did it for me then came to check on me the next day. She never missed a Doctor's appointment. If I had a fear or need all I had to do was text her and she fixed it and believe me, I was needy. I'm almost finished with my radiation and she is still right by my side. I want her to get recognized for the fantastic nurse that she is. She went above and beyond her job to make my journey as smooth and easy for me as she could. She is definitely called to be a nurse. She is caring and compassionate for others. I will never forget her and me and my family will forever be grateful for her. She is for sure an extraordinary nurse.

Note: This is Lawana's 2nd DAISY Award!
