I’ve had many nurses in the last couple of years, and none compared to this loving, beautiful soul. I felt a strong connection with her and whenever she was on duty I knew I’d be okay. She is a very smart lady, and she was very thorough with my care. She was always ahead of me by a step or two.

For example, looking to see if my x-ray results or lab results had been posted even before I’d asked about them. She was so loving and compassionate. My own mother unexpectedly passed away and Lawanda has been with me every step of the way on my cancer journey. I’d been dreading having to go through all of this surgery without her. My husband was with me, and he’s been amazing, but nothing can compare to a woman who can both push and be assertive because she cares and wants to see you better and do it with a hug and in an encouraging, supportive way where you know she loves what she does and loves helping people. She was all those things I loved about my own mom and having her there listening and understanding with patience was exactly what I needed. She is an Extraordinary nurse. One I’ll never forget.
