During our mother J’s multiple stays at Mercy Hospital over two years, we were seeing that Nurse Lawrence Hudson was assigned to her. Our gratitude for Lawrence began when he was a PCT, a tech. He comforted J and responded quickly, always with a smile to her many needs. Her mobility and pain tolerance was very limited, yet he responded to her needs efficiently and effectively. The family and J enjoyed hearing his enthusiasm about his nursing school studies. So despite the uncertainty of being back to Mercy this year, we had great joy in seeing that Lawrence was now her Nurse!

Being her nurse brought J and her family great comfort because we knew Lawrence would provide the best care possible, along with the best attitude a patient could ever want from their provider. There are so many adjectives to describe Lawrence: Caring - Comforting - Knowledgable (he taught us a lot!) - Efficient and Quick to Respond - Patient - Kind - Super Personality.

We are very lucky to have had Lawrence as a tech and as a nurse. It’s nice to see his growth as a healthcare professional. But we think Mercy is lucky also to have Lawrence choose Mercy again as he begins his nursing career. As a mom (J) gets set for discharge into home hospice, Lawrence will remain in high regard to J and us three siblings. We will always remember him and how he made mom’s final hospital stay more comforting.
