May 2018 Honoree
layne belden, RN
Layne Belden was taking care of an elderly gentleman in our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The anesthesia provider was concerned that this patient had already reached the safe maximum limit of pain medication. Layne spoke to the patient in a soothing voice, she then began to hold his hand and provide physical support for his post-op pain. By using these alternative methods of pain control, the patient did not require unsafe levels of pain medication and had adequate pain control as noted by the patient. The anesthesia provider who nominated Layne stated, "This is patient-centered care at its finest."
Thank you, Layne, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
