With the closing of our OB Department here at Bridgton Hospital, our OB nurses no longer had the opportunity to practice in the field of OB, of which for many of them was their passion.  Lea Tilton recently and unexpectedly found an outlet to continue that passion for OB.  When Lea and the rest of the team learned of the complications a team member was having with her pregnancy, Lea shared her clinical OB knowledge providing education and emotional support. Lea was also able to share her own pregnancy complications with E which offered positive support helping E have faith that things will be okay.  

We are all aware of Lea’s efforts and the work she did in fundraising for the T-shirt project for E and her family.  Lea understood the financial strain that E and her husband were having with this pregnancy and she really wanted to do something to help them and ease their minds.  She put hours and hours of her own personal time into designing, organizing, collecting money, ordering, picking up, sorting, and delivering shirts to all departments and practices. 

What we aren’t aware of, is the special connection between Lea and E just as a nurse builds with their patients.  Lea, as one of the few OB nurses that remained at the hospital with us, helped to support E and her many questions, calming her fears and providing support and positive feedback while building a relationship of trust.  So much trust, that E requested of Lea to be part of her labor if for some reason her husband was unable to attend.  Lea continues to extend her experience and support to E and her family. Lea has gone above and beyond to rally the entire Bridgton Hospital team having such a monumental impact on E and her family.   She is a true DAISY!
