Leah Bates stands out to me because of her work with SNA, her willingness to share her time and be supportive to the Sophomores and other students, and her hard work in the nursing lab helping out with always a positive attitude. I remember when Leah was performing her head-to-toe test out in 2019 and I think she had to use a gurney instead of a bed. She did an excellent job performing the assessment. Leah has a friendly demeanor and is someone who is easily approachable and well-liked.

Each week Leah would ensure she provided the highest quality of care for her patient. If she had concerns for her patient, she felt weren't being addressed, or needed help understanding the complexity of a situation she sought me out for guidance and support. Additionally, she is one of the kindest and most professional students I've encountered in my teaching career. She always approaches individuals by saying "Ma'am or Sir". One week she was paired with a nurse who didn't seem too thrilled to have a student. Despite this, she embraced each opportunity to learn and made the most out of the situation while providing high-quality care to her patient. She does a great job connecting with her patients and helping them feel comfortable, seen, and heard.
