Leah is amazing - she is constantly going above and beyond for our patients. She is an integral part of the successful discharge of our transplant patients. Just last week she helped organize a wedding that took place in St. Luke's Chapel and a small reception in the Ware Conference Room. This was for one of our patients who has a very unfortunate diagnosis and an even more unfortunate prognosis. Her now husband is currently receiving treatment for cancer as well. It was of the utmost importance for this patient to marry her fiancé though the future is not that promising. Leah, along with other staff nurses and language interpreters, contracted someone who came to our hospital to do hair and make-up. The family brought up her wedding gown, decorations were put up, and the priest was contacted to come to officiate at the hospital. All of this was completed in just a couple of days. This was not how the patient thought her wedding day would be, but she was so happy to be getting married. I am blown away by this undertaking and the selfless acts of these staff members. Leah is an amazing nurse, who is always finding the best in situations, and goes to great lengths to get what is needed for our patients. I along with every other member of the liver transplant team feel very fortunate to have her advocating for our patients. Thank you, Leah, for this honor.
