I am an NI student with Leah this summer, and never have I seen a nurse be as compassionate and caring as she is. We have a patient right now who has been here for 18 days waiting on nursing home placement. From what I hear, she has been less than pleasant and pretty hard to care for because she can be quite hateful. Leah has been amazing with her. They have really pampered her, and she loves it.
The nurses have brought her flowers, which has absolutely thrilled her to death. She was actually smiling and laughing and saying please and thank you, being pleasant. She evidently hasn't been very nice her whole stay until now. She has been refusing to get out of bed at all. They were able to get her up in a wheelchair and wheeled her out to the big window where she was able to sit in the sun for a few minutes. I know without a doubt, Leah had a huge impact on her life. She is leaving for the nursing home today, but before she leaves, she wants her picture made with Leah. She is currently back in the bed holding her flowers and wearing her sunglasses and is actually smiling.
