I am nominating Leah Matlock on the 4th Floor for her never-ending compassion and kindness. My mom was admitted for blood sugar issues and had already spent a long night in the ER. My mom has many challenges due to her age and health. She had endured a lot of pain in the time between the ER and getting her to her room. Like most people, the hospital is not a place she wanted to be. I would like to say now, all the nurses we encountered on the 4th Floor are absolute angels. The techs were fantastic. Everyone we met was wonderful, however, Leah went above what we would have ever expected.

She is knowledgeable, and if she doesn't know the answer she will find one. She thinks outside the box finding solutions to the little annoyances that come up during hospital stays. But it is her compassion that impressed me most. She did everything she could to make my mom comfortable. My mom was on dialysis when she started having severe shoulder pain. My mom called it a 10/10. Leah didn't say "Oh, she had a Tylenol". No, she took the time to help my mom find relief. When the second pain pill didn't work, she kept pushing until a solution was finally found. My mom has suffered so much and having someone take the time to listen to her and feel her pain and help her means the absolute world to us.

Her communication is also top-notch. She was always in touch, always communicating, always showing kindness in every conversation. You have an absolute superstar on your staff! Even if she doesn't get a big ceremony or award please let her know that she made a difference in our lives. Taking a very scary hospitalization and making us feel safe, secure, and brilliantly taken care of. We appreciate it more than we can ever express.
