She truly was there for all of us. She made everyone feel at ease, giving us all the feeling everything was going to be fine.
Leah Mohler treated this patient like her own dad, not just another patient. She not only tended to every single one of his needs but the family’s as well. She truly was there for all of us. She made everyone feel at ease, giving us all the feeling everything was going to be fine. She was attentive, optimistic, and easy to talk to, and she gave the impression that my dad was her only concern.
My dad complained multiple times that he wanted to be shaved. When she heard this, she immediately said no problem, went and got a razor, and shaved my dad.
Whenever she came into his room, she always had a big smile on her face. She had built a rapport with him and joked with him before doing whatever task she had to do.
This nurse acted as his advocate. She spoke to my dad’s neurologist about his medications, and the neurologist agreed with her and changed the doses on one of his medications. The change improved my father’s mental cognition.
My dad was having swallowing issues, and Leah took the time to feed him his meals to ensure everything went smoothly.
She mentioned to us that Inova has a music program and was able to get my dad the guitarist to visit with my dad. The music was very calming for my dad.

As I read this nomination, I wasn’t surprised at all. Knowing her work ethic and seeing her in action everything written above is how Leah Molher treats everyone her of patients. She is a Relief Charge for PCU. She has been awarded Nurse of the Year 2023 for 51N.
We are very lucky Leah is a part of the PCU family.
