Leah was the pre-op nurse who cared for our son L during his recent ACL reconstructive surgery. From the moment she came into our room and introduced herself, she was an absolute ray of sunshine. Her smile was so warm and we immediately felt at ease. She showed a caring attitude throughout our time in pre-op, making L feel comfortable throughout the process. She explained everything she was going to do beforehand. She made starting the IV no problem and even took the time afterward to show L the IV catheter and how the only thing left in his arm was a piece of bendable plastic. We were impressed that she cared to take extra time to educate and show L this process. She kept the mood light and friendly, and this kept L smiling and relaxed throughout the time in pre-op. She was confident in her skills and kept us informed about what to expect next, etc. Surgery can be a scary time for patients and families, and someone like Leah really makes an impact that sets her apart from others. We felt that she went above and beyond to provide us with an excellent experience for that we feel she should be recognized with the DAISY Award. Thank you so much, Leah!
