Leah encouraged me to wash all I could on my own and taught me the importance of walking in the hallway even if I didn’t want to.
I had surgery and spent some time in the ICU before being transferred to the 7th floor. Leah came into the room and introduced herself to me. Throughout my stay, Leah explained every procedure and the "why" behind them. One day, Leah was precepting a new nurse. She explained and instructed throughout the day using hands-on experience. The preceptee, with the assistance of Leah, was able to administer IV Tylenol without difficulty. Leah encouraged me to wash all I could on my own and taught me the importance of walking in the hallway even if I didn’t want to. I wanted to give a glimpse of Leah’s overall abilities and have a picture of her work ethic. I feel that all good nurses have a sense of empathy and caring for their patients. I received great care from all the nurses on Gen 7 Acute. If the rest of your hospital is staffed with these top personnel you should be very proud, cause I am.
