When it was clear time was short, she arranged for the patient's partner to stay, and his dog to visit, which meant everything to the patient and his family.
Since working alongside the ear nose and throat time over the last 4 months, I have noticed that Leanne goes above and beyond for her patients and to support her colleagues.

Two examples that stand out are that one of our patients was feeling unwell and came into the emergency department. Realising he was at risk of neutropenic sepsis, she arranged for him to be fast-tracked through the department and ensured he had antibiotics. She then returned throughout the day to ensure he was receiving enough fluid, giving extra fluid via his PEG because he was dehydrated, as well as staying in the emergency department to give vital medications as the team there was short-staffed.

A second scenario is of the excellent care she gave to a patient of mine who was nearing the end of life. He had complex care needs including a laryngectomy, which she managed with care and professionalism, taking the time to allow the patient to write down his concerns and discuss them with him. When it was clear time was short, she arranged for the patient's partner to stay, and his dog to visit, which meant everything to the patient and his family. She is a huge asset to the team and to the hospital, and I feel very privileged to work with her.
