If there was ever a nurse that epitomizes what the DAISY Award represents, it is Lee. She is very patient focused and her patients are always her top priority. Even though Lee may only see her patients for a day or two being a Resource Team nurse, she makes a difference in their hospital stay by making them feel cared for and lets them know they are important to her.
One time, Lee had a terminally ill patient who just wanted to see his dogs, however, it was not possible to transport them to Seattle. The next time Lee had a day off, she got the patient spiffed up, took him off the floor in a wheelchair and outside where she had her dogs outside so the patient was able to play with them like they were his own. He was so happy and his wife was elated to see her husband smiling and laughing again. We are lucky to have Lee as part of our team.
