We had a patient who was incredibly anxious about getting blood drawn for a procedure. The patient kept repeating that she was a hard stick and was very nervous. Our regular nurse was off on the day of this procedure, so I asked Leanna to assist. Although she wasn't scheduled to work with us that day, she was gracious and came over to help. To soothe the patient’s nerves, she got the vein finder and took her time. The patient was incredibly thankful. The next week, the same patient came back for her second procedure and was still very anxious. Our normal nurse was there that day but was unable to draw the patient’s blood. Once again, Leanna came over, even though she was working at another clinic. She spent more than 20 minutes with this patient, reassuring her and getting her blood drawn. Not once did she complain or show any frustration. She went above and beyond what she needed to do two weeks in a row. We are incredibly grateful for her assistance.
