I would like to nominate Leesha for the DAISY Award because she has made an unforgettable difference in my life and in my healing journey.
I first met Leesha following the birth of my third son. My labor and delivery were extremely traumatic and did not go as expected or planned. From the very first moment I met her, Leesha brought a sense of calm, compassion, and encouragement. Her uplifting words and affirmations provided me with comfort during one of the most difficult times of my life. She guided me with patience and helped ease my fears in every situation, truly going above and beyond to ensure that I felt supported.
After being discharged, I unfortunately had to return to the hospital just a week later due to another unexpected and traumatic medical complication. This was a frightening and overwhelming time, made worse by the bumpy ambulance ride and the uncertainty of what was happening. When Leesha walked into my room, everything changed. I instantly recognized her, and with that recognition came a deep sense of relief, safety, and peace. In that moment, she was a breath of fresh air. I knew I could trust her to care for me, both physically and emotionally.
Leesha consistently demonstrated her commitment to excellence in nursing care. She took the time to write everything clearly on the board, so I never had to worry about my medications, upcoming treatments, or what to expect next. I never had to guess; Leesha made sure I felt informed and reassured at every step.
Beyond her clinical care, her kindness extended to my family as well. Whenever my loved ones visited, she treated them with the same respect and compassion, asking if they needed anything and making sure that they were comfortable too.
Leesha embodies everything that the DAISY Award stands for. She is compassionate, patient, attentive, and kind- not only to her patients, but also to their families. In my most vulnerable and frightening moments, she was the steady, reassuring presence I needed. I will forever be grateful for the exceptional care and humanity she showed me.
For these reasons and more, I wholeheartedly would like to nominate Leesha for the DAISY Award.
