On a recent Friday afternoon, Ms. Wingo worked over 3 hours arranging care across state lines for a hospice patient. The patient had a last request to go to the beach for a final time. While there, the Veteran declined and needed IV fluids. A hospice agency had an office in the beach town, but unable to assist with care transition. Because Leigh has so much compassion, dedication, and integrity, she diligently worked the case through completion, faxing orders to the beach location hospice and home IV company. Leigh even gave her personal cell number to the spouse, sacrificing time over the weekend to assure the wife had support from someone she trusted. Leigh is a wonderful example of our program. She is an absolute treasure for our Veterans and families. Her contribution to this family at end-of-life was immeasurable!
