This morning a gentleman stepped on the elevator with me and when I asked what floor, he stated "7, the penthouse." I explained who I was and asked what room his loved one was in. He stated his mother was in room 753 and was scheduled to have "brain surgery" today. We discussed her stay and I inquired about the nursing staff and care to this point. He noted how good everyone had treated them, especially Leighanne, whom he noted was "wonderful". Through our conversation I discovered that his mother had her head shaved yesterday in prep for today's surgery. Leighanne personally went to the gift shop and purchased a scarf for the patient. The son stated he was so moved by her kindness that he cried when the gift was presented. Leighanne often goes above and beyond, including offering prayer. Our mission and values shine through in her acts of kindness and caring every day.
