Leighton assisted me with responding to a BERT. During this time, the patient was delirious and in a great deal of distress. The patient had escaped from the staff on their unit and reached the stairwell. The patient was close to falling down the stairs.

Leighton ran to catch the patient and kept the patient from falling down the staircase. During this event, it put Leighton himself at risk running so close to the staircase to catch the high fall risk patient. With his assistance, we were able to verbally speak with the patient and get the patient back to their assigned bed safely.
