I was admitted to the hospital and had surgery the same day. My surgery did not resolve the issue I was having and I ended up having to stay in the hospital much longer than we initially thought. All of the nurses and CNAs have been great but one nurse really was remarkable. I was in an unexpected amount of pain and was very anxious about what was going on. Leila was very thorough in her care but she was so very compassionate and sweet. She would rub my arm as she gave me pain meds to console me and she would make me laugh when I needed that. Leila not only took excellent care of me by encouraging me to take meds that maybe I didn't want to take at that time and ensuring I had my SCDs on but she also made me feel like I was her only patient and I could tell how much she cared about me as a person and not just another patient. Leila should be honored for the exceptional care she provided and for being an Extraordinary Nurse.
