A recent example stands out and truly speaks to his character: On his own time, Leland helped build a ramp for a man who was not even his patient, but a resident of a local nursing home. He then helped carry the patient into his home and even assisted him into bed. As he finished, Leland told the man how glad he was to meet him. The man was so moved by the kindness and sincerity in Leland's words that he began to cry.
