Our nurse, Leland was great! He always went above and beyond to ensure that my son and I had everything we needed. He explained what was happening and what was going to happen next in my son's treatment plan. He answered any questions I had and he gave me the push that I needed to make it through this. We had been here almost 2 weeks and it was taking a toll on me physically and financially. Most people don't consider the cost associated with being here with your child. It's not all about the money, but the time and energy you put into the process. From the first night my nurse worked you could tell he was here for the right reasons. He gave me time to care for myself so that I could care for my son. That was the first night that I was able to sleep through the night without being woken. With his help, I was able to shower, take a walk, and sleep. I realized he was not only caring for my son but for me also. Seeing my son in critical condition and not knowing what was going to happen next was hard. I needed to be there and be strong for my son, but in reality, all I wanted to do was ball up and cry. It took everything in me to keep it together. Leland gave me hope and the breaks that I needed to refresh myself. He explained how important it was for me to care for myself. Every night he worked he made sure that I took time for myself. He gave me the knowledge and strength I needed to get through this. I could not have done this without him. Thank you so much. You rock!
