I wasn’t coping well. Lena came to my home, brought me food, helped me tidy my house, and gave me company while we waited for my family to get there from out of town.
Back in July, I had one of the worst shifts I think I’ll ever have. My patient coded and unfortunately passed away. Lena was called in and came in super quickly. She helped to calm the chaos that night; the family was extremely upset, and Lena talked to them and helped get them a private area of the unit to grieve.

As a newer nurse who had never experienced this before, I was lost. I had no idea what to do after my patient passed. Lena helped to walk me through each step. It was really nice having the department director take the time to walk me through something at midnight. It made me feel like she truly cared about me and cared about helping me.

Fast forward to a few days after this incident, I was not okay. Mentally and physically, I felt destroyed. I was alone, my husband was out of town for work, and I wasn’t coping well. Lena came to my home, brought me food, helped me tidy my house, and gave me company while we waited for my family to get there from out of town. I was too scared to ask them, but she offered to reach out for me, which was so kind of her.

I would not have gotten through it without her and the management team's help. Lena is a department director who cares so deeply for every single one of her employees, and it shows. She went above and beyond to help me and make sure I was okay, which is not something that just anyone would do. I am so thankful for Lena.
