On a busy day in the CICU with few resources, Leoshay was caring for a critically ill patient on ECMO. She established rapport with the patient family. The next day, as the baby decompensated, the family turned to Leoshay over and over with questions and for reassurance. Though she was hanging numerous blood products, titrating drips, and managing multi-organ failure, Leoshay answered every question with patient thoroughness. For three days in a row, Leoshay came in for 12-16 hour shifts, working tirelessly to be there for her patient and family as they dealt with the unfolding tragedy of their child dying. Leoshay was steadfast, providing faultless care- literally picking the mom up off the floor, and coordinating the multidisciplinary team to provide seamless care. Her dedication to her patient was truly inspiring.
