Lesa finds innovative and efficient ways to teach her students so they have a better understanding of the importance of community and public health. She also role models how to be a patient advocate.
Lesa consistently lives out all of the Bryan core values in her daily work and is one of the most professional, kind-hearted, and compassionate faculty at the College. She is quiet in her demeanor, however, she leads by example through her excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship.
Examples of the Core Values submitted in her nominations:
One Team, One Purpose - exceptional collaboration in the Community Health Nursing course. This past summer, she was instrumental in preparing the course for virtual learning in the wake of the current pandemic and she provides continual support to her colleague with whom she co-teaches the course.
Cares like Crazy - Lesa finds innovative and efficient ways to teach her students so they have a better understanding of the importance of community and public health. She also role models how to be a patient advocate.
Know the Way and Show the Way - her leadership role as Faculty Senate Chair where she role models excellence in communication to ensure business is completed and faculty have a voice in the process. She has led with optimism, enthusiasm, and encouragement. She truly sees the glass as more than half full!
Lives it and Owns It in her volunteer role as an ACEN champion assisting in the preparation for the nursing program's reaccreditation site visit next fall. She is someone who always does more than she needs to without being asked!
Spreads a Smile, and Goes the Extra Mile - Lesa is the first to give a smile or a greeting when walking down the hall, and even when things are tough and not going well, she finds the positive side to every situation.
Motivates and Appreciates others through her handwritten and email thank you notes to those who have helped her.
Enjoy the Journey- Lesa actively contributes to the profession of nursing education and finds joy in the simple things.
Lesa is a teammate that everyone wants to have. She is a true professional who leads by example without fail. She is a problem solver with a vision that is global and creative. Her classes are organized, detailed, and individualized. Her attention to detail is extraordinary. I do not think that I have ever worked with anyone as kind, selfless, and caring as Lesa. Her interactions with students, faculty, staff, and administration are always genuine and sincere. She treats every student that she works with as if they are her only responsibility and with complete dignity and respect. She quickly and easily develops relationships with those that she serves as a faculty advisor. If my child were a student here, I would feel as if I won the lottery to have Lesa be their advisor.
