Lesja is an amazing coworker. Today I had a patient who only spoke Ukrainian and had been placed in 4-point restraints overnight due to agitation and confusion. Even though it was not her patient, Lesja immediately jumped in and began translating. She spent much of her day comforting the patient in her own language and speaking to her husband. Lesja spent at least 2 nights caring for this patient. She even assisted with the discharge taking the patient down with me and thoroughly explaining the discharge instructions, medications, and follow-ups in Ukrainian to the patient's family.
This was so kind, both to the patient and to me as her coworker. This was the definition of above and beyond.
Because of her, we were able to remove all restraints, help the patient understand what was happening and allowed the patient to get some much need sleep after calming down.
