Lesley played a critical role in helping implement TSAM, a change that was needed but challenging for me and our preceptors. She taught me about Kotter's, breaking it down in a way that was not just easy to understand, but actually exciting and motivating to implement. During our many sessions, I would dump everything on my mind - all my challenges, experiences, frustrations, hopes and wants about nurse onboarding and orientation. Anyone who's experienced one of my brain dump sessions knows it's quite the experience! I have a lot of passion and drive (and opinions!), and Lesley held space for all of it, helping me organize my thoughts, validating the need for improvement, and brainstorming ways we could bring positive change through TSAM. Lesley was crucial when it came to preparing for our first and subsequent TPIAT patients. Bringing TPIAT to CHLA was huge - both for our organization's mission and our patients' lives. She brought unit leadership, nurses, and care partners together, working across departments to embrace the change and ensure high-quality education for everyone involved. Change is difficult - it demands time and effort, two of our most precious commodities these days. But Lesley works incredibly hard, and her commitment to developing our nurses is undeniable. I know that whenever I'm working on a project with her, I'll be fully supported and never alone. She's been an incredible influence on my own professional development, just as she is for our nurses and care partners. What makes her special is how she makes learning engaging and fun, finding creative ways for learners to gain knowledge that's both meaningful and memorable! Through her dedication to developing and empowering nurses, Lesley elevates the quality of care we provide at CHLA.
