May 2026 Honoree
Lesley Brubaker, RN
Lesley was an absolute blessing to have on my wife’s care team.
My wife is fighting cancer, and after her last dose of chemo, she had very little to no appetite. Lesley was very patient with my wife, who is slow to respond at times. She focused on her while ensuring that family needs were met.
She created an individualized plan of care, which was important since so many other providers seemed to only see the task list they had to complete. She showed empathy while staying professional. She never seemed burdened by messaging the doctor to get additional items.
After her shift, we found out she had been loaned from another unit. To discover that made our experience with her even more impressive.
After reaching out for new orders, my wife made a huge improvement. After being in the hospital for one week with little change, we were pleasantly surprised.
The following day, they were even considering discharge!
