Leslie Davis 2024, RN

Leslie is a dependable, hard-working nurse who brings constant attention to detail to ensure that her patients receive an excellent level of care. Her patient-first attitude and discipline to do the right thing all of the time make her an asset to both our department and the whole hospital. I work closely with her at the end of the shift when there is decreased staff, but her dedication and ability to whole-picture problem-solve makes it easy to work in complicated situations. For example, she will facilitate throughput to make sure patients move through in a timely manner to maintain safe staff ratios but also make sure patients don't feel rushed.

Recently, she had a patient who was going back to surgery after a traumatic event. The patient was being wheeled to surgery, and Leslie observed that the patient and family were distraught and needed a moment. She asked the OR nurse to bring the patient back and gave them some privacy to speak for a moment, after being able to pray for a moment the patient and family member were more peaceful about the patient going back to surgery.

In another incident, the family was non-English speaking. Leslie requested an interpreter to provide discharge instructions. After the instructions, the family member thanked her for taking the time to explain everything.
