Leslie was one of the nurses who came into the life of my father and made a significant difference. My father has had a myriad of illnesses and came into the hospital one particular admission. He was debilitated, anorexic, and was in rapid decline.
Leslie was the registered nurse who cared for my father on that admission. I was so impressed with her level of compassion and concern - all the while being so professional. She was so helpful in alerting the physicians on my dad's team when things didn't seem quite right, and at times I think she did so at her own risk.
Leslie is fluent in Spanish, and while she was caring for my father who was seriously ill, the patient around the corner (who was in isolation too) needed attention. Leslie switched from English-speaker to Spanish-speaker without any delay, and doffed and donned the isolation gown like it was no trouble at all.
Leslie was someone I truly believe saved my father's life, and I will never forget her. She is not only an exceptional nurse, but she also is a remarkable patient advocate.
