Leslie takes a special interest in every patient that comes to the Wound Clinic. She has formed such bonds with patients that they often come back to say thank you to her. I have seen her console and advise patients and their family members, as well as attend funerals of her patients.

The Wound Clinic recently had a psychiatric patient that had to be sent to the ER in a 1013. The patient was very upset and did not want to go. The patient had been coming to the wound clinic for a long time and had developed a trusting relationship with the staff. During this difficult time, Leslie was able to calm the patient, who still did not want to go, even after the ambulance had arrived. As he sat on the back of the ambulance, he looked into Leslie's eyes as she knelt to talk with him. Because of the trusting relationship, he calmly climbed into the ambulance.

Although Leslie was visibly upset, she proceeded to finish the day with the professional demeanor she has every day. She continued to follow up with this patient, who is mentally healthy now. They have returned to the wound clinic and without Leslie, this situation could have been much more serious.

Leslie is a nurse that truly cares for the well being of her patients and I admire her more than I can say.
