Leslie was nominated by her Assistant Nurse Manager, who said she always demonstrates compassionate care to all Veterans she cares for. Leslie's ANM shared a patient's story, and how the patient felt appreciated and felt revitalized after Leslie brought her outside and took the time to talk with her and braid her hair.
After getting fresh air the Veteran stated, "I felt like I had more energy, and I feel better all of a sudden." The veteran also said she felt "valued as a human being" for the first time in a long time. Although the Veteran could not remember her name, the veteran expressed gratitude for Leslie's care and how she made her feel.
