Leslie’s presence brings immense reassurance and warmth to those in her care.
My dad has a complicated medical history, and we’ve been to the emergency room many times. Each time, they sent us home, but we kept returning for the same reason. Everything changed when we met Leslie. God, life, and the universe put her in my dad’s path.
From the moment we met her, she was very kind. She always explained everything we asked about and was very patient, even when we bombarded her with questions. She always had the best attitude at any moment, along with a smile. She always cared about my dad and about us as well. Thanks to her, she noticed that what was happening to my dad wasn’t normal.
That day, instead of being sent home again, she did everything possible to make sure this time was different. Because of her, they discovered something abnormal and took action. She did everything she could to ensure my dad was okay, and that same day—when we thought we would go home—thanks to her, he went into surgery to improve his health.
Thank you, Leslie, for always being there for my dad. My family will always be grateful for everything you did. I’m glad God placed you in our path, and I know you will continue to be on the path of many patients. Keep going—you’re amazing!

A hospital visit of any type can be stressful. Unexpected admissions can be worse than stressful. As an entrepreneur, I fully comprehend the level of patience and understanding required to help ease the discomfort of unexpected emergencies. In 30 years of providing customers with what I believe is top-tier service, I have met and experienced only a handful of individuals who operate in the same manner, which leads me to offer recognition for our nurse.
While every staff member has given my brother (the patient) good care from start to finish in most instances, this particular day, the exchange was matchless. In July, we lost a brother to lung cancer at 38 years old. Last month, a cousin passed—lung cancer claimed her life within seven days. The grief is unexplainable in this short story. The phrase “you never know what people are going through” is one we live by in our household, and we pride ourselves on treating others with considerable kindness.
Given the nature of my brother’s visit (lung complications), I experienced a variety of emotions. Having to grieve, show up as a mother and sister is difficult for me to do. This hospital visit comes with rules, policies, and questions—some with answers, others without... until Leslie (bless you) appeared. She showed up wearing her role on her face and body language. She rendered care for my brother with consideration for the time of day/night, adjusting her volume during sleep and using minimal lighting, which was the start of my gratitude. Other staff visited, interviewed, asked questions, and answered some, but it was nothing like the exchange of energy offered by Leslie.
When she came back, I repeated my questions that needed consultation with others to get proper, complete answers. The replies were taking too long—hours had passed before responses came, and I was not satisfied. Leslie, in all her understanding, reassured me and the patient that she would do all she could to satisfy my need for answers. I had an attitude. Hunger brought my energy very low, and I probably just needed a hug or some food. What gave me comfort, instead, was her ability to overlook my emotions without ignoring them.
She responded professionally, and I reacted emotionally. Once I became aware of my behavior, I thought, “Oh no, this poor girl has to endure the results of my personal life.” She was not deserving of that silly attitude. However, Leslie was different. She loves her job and showed professionalism when I met her, despite my sarcasm and attitude. Leslie was consistent. She was the proper amount of vigilant to satisfy me. I needed answers and comfort—unknowingly, one was delivered. She has no clue what my family is going through nor how difficult it is to give respect and consideration for others.
I decided she deserves recognition. When the bill comes for this hospital visit, it will not include payment for her character. It is the highlight of my stay here with my brother. Since there is no compensation for her simply understanding and choosing to serve her community in a way most others do not, I want to pay her in nomination, leaving with a few important descriptive words:
• Patience
• Kindness
• Understanding
• Consistency
• Pride
• Top-notch care
• High vibrational energy
• Intentional
• Vigilant
• Purposeful
• Resourceful
• Complete
• Matchless
These words are all that Leslie embodied—all in one day, within the start of her shift, but not nearly halfway through it. I hope she will discover how much we value her for the simple gift of completeness and satisfaction.
Leslie, you are the highest energy I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with during this stay. Thank you.
Sincerely & Apologetically but Authentically,
- Sister of a patient

I’m a working mom, and I trusted Leslie so much. The way she took care of my daughter was amazing. Leslie didn’t hesitate—whenever my daughter called, she was there. She always answered our questions and not only checked on my child but on me as well. I’ve never experienced a nurse go above and beyond until I met Leslie. She’s a beautiful person, and my family is grateful for her.

I am recognizing Leslie's extraordinary dedication and compassionate care. Leslie consistently goes above and beyond for her patients, ensuring they feel genuinely cared for. From holding a patient's hand during a bedside procedure to offering words of comfort and cheek, Leslie’s presence brings immense reassurance and warmth to those in her care. Leslie makes sure that she addresses her patients' concerns, prays with them, accompanies them on a hallway walk, and listens to them when they like to talk.
Beyond her comforting nature, Leslie has demonstrated remarkable quick thinking and expertise in critical situations. For instance, when a patient experienced bleeding from a Fistula, Leslie swiftly controlled the bleeding by applying pressure, changing the dressing, quickly notifying the physician, and transporting the patient to the OR promptly. Her proactive approach not only stabilized the patient but also expedited the care they needed, showcasing her dedication and competence. The physician messaged Leslie after: "You saved his life", an appreciation she did not expect.
In addition to her individual excellence, Leslie is also a remarkable team Player. She uplifts her colleagues and fosters a collaborative environment. She quietly acts on what needs to be done to help her co-workers. Leslie's commitment to her patients and her team makes her a true DAISY Nurse.
