When nurse Leslie walked into my room, little did I know I would be meeting my "Angel of Hope". Here was Leslie with open arms of care and hope. She immediately set out to make me comfortable while taking the information she would need on my condition. She calmed my nerves. Although we were from different backgrounds and ages, we shared so much in common.
During that first night, she taught me how to recognize a sugar low before it got out of control, and when I experienced it again she was right there testing me with a snack in hand to help control it. Constantly during the night and the next day she checked my progress and gave me words of encouragement. When she passed my care over to the incoming nurse, she was quick, precise, and thorough. I had gotten the best care ever!
Leslie taught me not to worry. She reminded me what was important to focus on: Faith, Family, Friends, and "Always stay hydrated!" Leslie is truly a very special nurse. She is a true gift.
