In the emergency department lobby, a recently discharged patient became confused, upset, and increasingly aggressive. Leslie quickly recognized the situation and ensured that social work became involved to provide additional support for the patient.

As the patient began acting out, Leslie, along with the ER technician, stepped in immediately. Within moments, they were able to calmly de-escalate the situation without the need for security, while maintaining a composed, compassionate, and patient-centered approach.

While others in the area were becoming understandably frustrated with the patient’s behavior, Leslie remained calm and focused. She took the time to understand the patient’s needs and successfully prevented the situation from escalating further.

Leslie consistently demonstrates exceptional concern, care, and compassion for every patient she encounters. Patients frequently share how her calm, reassuring presence helps them feel safe and supported in what is often a stressful and uncomfortable environment – the emergency department.

Leslie deserves recognition not only for her strong work ethic, but for the genuine compassion she brings to patient care every day.
