Leslie Spencer was nominated by a patient and her spouse. Her nomination reflected Synergy Nurse Characteristics of Caring Practices, Clinical Judgement, Facilitator of Learning, Advocacy and Collaboration as described in the excerpts below:
Leslie immediately made us feel comfortable and in the best hands. Our fears were minimized by her calming manner. We were amazed at how knowledgeable and incredidibly caring she was. It was clear that she planned to do everything in her power to address side effects and concerns before they even occured.... she acted as a liason between our two doctors. She took the time to explain exactly what was going to take place and how...she never reminded repeating or re-explaining things to us.
She had a way of convinincing my husband to take care of himself. For instance, when he needed a wheelchair, she convinced him to use one, something that I was unable to do as his wife. We feel blessed to have had Leslie as our major go to person and caretaker.
