Leslie Weierick, RN, 2 South, was selected by the Professional Development Council to be honored with DAISY Award. She was nominated by a patient’s family member who made the following comments:

My mother was taken to the ER last Tuesday afternoon from Muscogee Manor. I live in Atlanta and was unable to get to the hospital until Thursday a.m. I was unable to reach her doctor during this time. I was quite upset by the time I arrived. Nurse Weierick took the time to explain to me everything from her arrival at the ER to her current status, including all the tests with explanations. She did all this with compassion and care, rather than just glossing over and moving on. She also contacted the doctor to secure an earlier release back to the nursing home rather than waiting on him to come in later in the p.m. She also arranged transport back and faxed her medicines to Muscogee Manor. She put me at ease and did a fantastic job!
