Since returning to Children's in 2014 as a transport nurse with the Transport Team, Letitia Spicer, BSN, RN, has been recognized as a role model, resource and mentor to current and new team members. Letitia has always set a great example of what it means to be a nurse and to go above and beyond—not only for her patients, but also for her teammates. She is a very knowledgeable, hardworking and compassionate nurse who is always welcoming, approachable and willing to teach by sharing her knowledge with team members, patients and their families. She has strong communication skills and works well with everybody, even in the most challenging and stressful of situations.
Letitia is also recognized as a strong patient advocate, and is able to openly and respectfully communicate with the many different disciplines at Children's as well as surrounding hospitals and clinics. She is valued for her critical thinking and clinical skills, which result in positive outcomes for her patients. She is aware of the shadow she casts, as demonstrated by her positive attitude in all of her transports, exemplifying the mission, vision and values of Children's to her team, other staff members, and outside hospital staff, patients and families.
She truly cares about not only her patients, but her team. Letitia is known for being flexible and is always willing to help out her teammates with scheduling needs. She is never too busy to be a reliable peer to talk to, always offering a listening ear as well as a positive perspective. She is always there to support her teammates during difficult times and does a good job of lifting everyone's spirits. Letitia is known for her positivity, friendliness, professionalism, genuine spirit, caring touch and even-keeled demeanor. She is as thoughtful and kind to her teammates as she is compassionate and caring toward her patients and their families.
Whether it is with patients, families, team members or staff throughout the hospital, Letitia models professionalism, leadership, teamwork and service excellence. Letitia is a valued, respected and integral member of the Transport Team.
