Lex asked my mom what her wishes were and made her feel so comfortable that someone was looking out for her. She was compassionate, kind hearted, and so much more.
We were blessed to have Lex as our mom/grandmother's nurse for several days as she treated her like a queen. Even when she was at her most demanding and grumpy time, Lex always greeted her with a smile and told her she was never a bother. There were a couple of times she didn’t make it to bathroom in time; Lex was the first one in there to help with absolutely no judgement at all. When mom would ask the same questions over and over, Lex was beyond patient in answering them in a way she could understand. She helped educate Mom as to what was going on and what they were doing to help resolve her issues. I had concerns about my mother's failure to thrive at home. I discussed it with Lex, who made sure it was noted and got a nutritionist involved.
We have family members who cause drama, and Lex handled these concerns with grace and confidentiality. When we went home for the night and weren’t there to assist with the family drama. Lex asked my mom what her wishes were and made her feel so comfortable that someone was looking out for her. She was compassionate, kind hearted, and so much more. She was always asking what else she could do for her and us, her family.
My mother (the patient’s daughter) thanked Lex for taking such good care of her. Lex stated, “I am here to take care of your mother. This is a time for YOU to sit and relax and let me take on the responsibilities of caring for your mother.” My mom broke down in tears because we have never had a better nurse than Lex. She truly cared about my grandmother and would come around before she left and said goodbye, which meant so much to my grandma and us. Lex is everything a nurse should be and went above and beyond. We are grateful you have her as an employee, and she truly embodies everything a nurse should be. She absolutely deserves this award, hands down.
