Lexia Henderson, BSN, RN

I would like to nominate Lexia Henderson for the DAISY Award. A friend of mine collapsed on the street during his daily walk. He was unconscious and had a massive heart attack, alone on the street. This incident occurred near Cedar Avenue and Sunset Drive in the neighborhood. Lexia Henderson saw this occur and jumped into action. She, without hesitation, began CPR, and she also called for medics and continued CPR until the first responders arrived and took over. My friend was unconscious during this entire incident. He was transported to FMC quickly due to Lexia's quick actions, and after a few days, he was able to consent to triple bypass surgery, which he successfully survived and is now recovering at a Rehab facility in town. Without Lexia's quick thinking and jumping into action, my friend might have lain on the street for a long time before anyone found him. He is a retired wildland firefighter and has many times worked fires to save others; it's only fitting that a first responder hero saved him in his time of need.

I want to nominate a lady who also works at FMC for saving my friend's life. She saw him collapse, and she called 911 and started CPR on him. When the ambulance came, he had no pulse, but they were able to revive him. He has survived open heart surgery and is now recovering. Her name is Lexia Henderson, and she is a hero.
