I met Lexie during an unexpected stay on 4SE. When I met her I was put at ease right away. She has a very calm demeanor that makes you confident with her care. She was very inquisitive regarding my disease, previous treatments and my next steps during my stay.
After a few days as my RN she told me her story. She was sick as a child and too, had to endure many surgeries. You could tell her past clearly shaped the type of person and RN she is today. She understands me in a way only another patient understands.
When I was thinking of what I would write for this nomination I sat in silence. I looked out my door and saw her helping a misplaced, confused, older patient on the floor. She helped him in the most calm and respectful way. It was in that moment I realized she wasn’t just that way with me. She is great with all patients, guests and other staff.
Lexie has touched me as a patient. She does above and beyond in her professional and should be recognized for her “commitment to excellence”.
