I cannot thank Lexie enough for easing my fears through each step and being a huge support during delivery.
I went into labor and delivery at Dublin Methodist Hospital as a 37-week induction for preeclampsia. Being a nurse myself, I know how crucial of a role the primary nurse plays in a patient's stay. Lexie cared for me during the hardest part of my labor. This RN spent the beginning of their shift getting to know me, my mom, and my significant other. They asked about my expectations and wants for the rest of labor and never once made me feel bad for what I wanted out of my experience. They explained every step and set clear guidelines on what to expect with each step we would take.

At one point, my epidural was not working for me on the left side of my body. Lexie spent the next hour changing my positioning, holding my emesis bag when I was nauseous, and talking me through contractions. This RN was able to get the CRNA, who gave me a bolus through my epidural and provided nearly immediate relief from the pain. A few hours later, I was checked again and had progressed to 10cm and was ready to push. This RN taught me how to push and practiced with me, encouraging me through each one until the doctor was called in.

At this point, we were approaching shift change, and I was fearful that Lexie wouldn't be there. I had told her all night, "I'm having this baby on your shift," and although I delivered after shift change, Lexie stayed by my side the entire time. They were so compassionate and made my experience in Dublin better than I could have imagined. Being a first-time mom, I cannot thank Lexie enough for easing my fears through each step and being a huge support during delivery.
