Lexie cared for a patient with a toe infection. After further conversation with him, she discovered that he purchases shoes that are too small because they are cheaper. In addition, she learned that he is on his feet for long hours at work in these non-fitting shoes. After digging a little deeper, she found out the specific type of shoes required for his job. After her shift, she took it upon herself to go and purchase non-skid black shoes and moisture wicking socks, to aid in the healing of his infection.
I am so blessed to work with such a wonderful selfless nurse that went above and beyond after a high acuity day. Not to mention it was also Lexie's birthday.
