Lexis Gillette

I have had the pleasure of working with Lexis this year on a yearlong quality improvement project through pre-specialty CH coursework. Lexis embodies the qualities I respect most in nurses: presence, warmth, compassion, advocacy, and determination. She naturally creates an environment of generous listening and makes her peers, collaborating community partners, and community members feel seen and heard. She has demonstrated a commitment to personal and professional growth in taking on roles in this project outside of her comfort zone, including public speaking. She was always willing to step up and take on extra responsibility to ensure our project stayed client-centered and equitable despite all the demands she gracefully juggled within and outside of the program as a working mother. She is a beacon of grit and grace. Lexis is deeply respected by her student peers and myself and worked hard to foster authentic and meaningful connections with our target community.
